Seeing the Whole Child

At MI AECRES, we realize that a child's needs don't start and stop with the school day. Every child is a unique individual, with a range of needs and interests 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. So, we want to make sure we're helping parents create the best team to help their child succeed in both school and life. Below are some resources you may find helpful for your child - whether that's an after-school service provider, a website or a book to better help your child at home, or finding an education advocate or attorney closer to you.

Service Providers

Schools are required to provide related services such as speech therapy, occupational therapy, counseling, or social work services to make sure your child is able to access their education and IEP goals. However, sometimes children's have the same or similar needs at home and could benefit from additional services. Other times, you may be looking for someone to provide an independent evaluation for your child.

Regardless of the reasons, click below to find related service providers in your area that may be able to help.

Continuing Learning

The more you know, the better you can meet your child's needs and find what works for them. New research is coming out all the time to help us better understand our client's disabilities, ways we can help them be more successful, and what practices are more harmful than helpful. Also, it's hard to advocate for your child when you don't always understand your rights and the rules of the system.
